BIG BOOG...

A COUPLE OF WEEKS BACK I DECIDED I WANTED TO GET A DETAILED PORTRAIT OF MY SON BENICIO TATTOOED ON MY ARM, SO IT WAS PRETTY MUCH A NO BRAINER TO CALL UPON MY GOOD FRIEND AND MASTER TATTOOER BOOG FROM PHAT GRAPHS. BOOG IS KNOWN WORLD WIDE NOT ONLY FOR HIS TATTOO WORK BUT FOR HIS TATTOO FLASH. WITH HIS PRECISE PENMANSHIP HE HAS ALSO BEEN RESPECTED FOR HIS SCRIPT LETTERING WHICH MIGHT I ADD TAKES YEARS TO MASTER. HE HAS BLESSED ALMOST THE ENTIRE CREW WITH TATTOOS SINCE 2001, MAKING HIM AN HONORARY MEMBER OF SG... THIS IS WHAT HE HOOKED ME UP WITH...

SO NEXT TIME YOU NEED SOME TATTOO WORK, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND HIT UP MY BOY BOOG, BUT DON'T BE SURPRISED IF YOU HAVE TO WAIT A FEW MONTHS FOR AN APPOINTMENT. ALSO COME CORRECT AND DON'T BE CHEAP!. PEACE AND ONE LOVE.

A HUGE INFLUENCE ....
BEING THAT IT IS THE SOUR GRAPES 10TH YEAR AS A CREW IT IS ONLY PROPER THAT WE PAY RESPECT TO THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING IT ALL COME TOGETHER. THIS IS OUR UNCLE NOE, ORIGINAL B-BOY, DJ, GRAFFITI ARTIST AND ORIGINAL GANGSTA FROM THE OLD SCHOOL DAYS. HE'S PAID ALL HIS DUES AND HAS THE CREDENTIALS TO PROVE IT, BUT AMONGST ALL OF THAT HE WAS OUR INTRODUCTION TO HIP-HOP IN 1994-95. NEARLY 15 YEARS LATER WE STILL HAVE THE SAME LOVE FOR THE CULTURE AS WE DID WHEN WE WERE FIRST INTRODUCED TO IT. SO IF YOU REALLY WANNA KNOW THE WHOLE SOUR GRAPES STORY FROM DAY ONE.... ASK HIM ABOUT IT AT OUR NEXT EVENTS.
PEACE AND ONE LOVE TO NOE "P-NUT" MALDONADO.

P.S. WE'LL BE IN LOS ANGELES THE FIRST WEEK OF JUNE FOR AN ART OPENING CARLOS IN FEATURED IN AND WE HAVE A SHOW AT "WE ARE 1976" ON JUNE 25TH... MORE INFO COMING SOON ON THAT. KEEP CHECKING BACK, PEACE!

Arturo x Mr. Cartoon

Our boy Arturo has quickly become one of the finest barbers in the Oak Cliff area here in Dallas, TX. On Mr. Cartoon's recent visit, he stopped through Studio 410 in the Bishop Arts neighborhood. Arturo hooked him up with a fresh clean cut. If you need a fresh cut, make your appointment at Studio 410, www.artonhair.com. Big thanks for Mr. Cartoon, one of the coolest artist we have ever met. Mr. Cartoon

Yesterday we had the honor of meeting Mr. Cartoon. He is a well known artist and a hero to us. He is a man of many talents from tattoos, custom cars, graffiti, painting, etc. He has been very successful throughout his career and has spread his art all over the world. We invited him to come paint one of our walls and he gladly agreed. It was amazing watching a true master at work. Mr. Cartoon was a very smart and respectful guy and we were honored to have met him. Cheech Marin

For those of you that don't know, Cheech Marin of Cheech and Chong is a huge art collector. Cheech has the largest private collection of Chicano Art in America. One of his goals is to bring the Chicano Art movement and his collection to the masses and so far it has worked. This past week, he took time out his busy touring schedule to come meet with members of the Sour Grapes in search of new work for his collection. Cheech was a very intelligent and funny man and treated us with much respect. It was an honor to visit with him at HCG Gallery and he was very pleased with our work. Look out for his touring art exhibitions in the future, as they will feature works by the Sour Grapes.
