ABOUT BREAKING RAD
Kyle Confehr primarily creates ink on paper drawings focusing on the absurdity of brand allegiance, irony, consumerism, social media, the notion of an “in” crowd and many other facets of modern culture.
Breaking Rad will feature new and recent works on paper as well as a collaborative site specific painting installtion with Favio Moreno of The Bodega Negra. This is the artist’s first solo exhibition with The Public Trust.

ABOUT KYLE CONFEHR
Influenced by artists such as Jim Stoten, Geoff McFetridge, Chad Vangaalen, Andy Goldsworthy and Edward Gorey, Confehr’s quick-witted delivery is satirical in nature and outsider in its perspective. Further influences include Legos, Where’s Waldo, Batman, rednecks, Ren and Stimpy, old Trapper Keepers, unicorns, laser beams, Pokemon and awkward conversations with his best friend Pete. On a personal note Kyle loves pizza, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, Sharpie’s, his dog Oswald and most of all his wife Meaghan. Kyle hates bad people, boy bands, country music and working out.

Minus WON

On 10-15-2011, our good friend Alvaro "Minus WON" Angeles passed away. We were very sadden by the heart breaking news. Minus was one of the original members of The Infinity Crew (IC), which is Dallas first graffiti crew. He was a huge inspiration to the Sour Grapes and we were extremely honored to have earned his respect. The amount of support that he showed us was very inspirational to keep us active as a crew. Minus was one of the guys that we looked up to because he was a true pioneer to the Dallas graffiti scene. His letter styles were very unique and original and they developed throughout his years as a writer. He was a true artist and his passion radiated so much that you could sense it in the aura that he had. We have the most highest amount of respect for Minus and we plan on keeping his legacy alive. Without all of his contributions to the Dallas art scene, a lot of artist would not exist today.

The day following his passing, a big group of writers got together to paint a wall in his memory. It was great to see everyone coming together in remembrance of our fallen brother. We will always remember him and we will keep his name alive. May he Rest In Paradise.

We had the privilege to put our touch on a local Metro PCS vendor this past week. Arma and I collaborated on this wall while Mikey took footage. The shop is located in the shopping center at the intersection of Cockrell Hill Rd. and Illinois St. in Oak Cliff. We had a lot of fun working on this one, and Players next door was bumping all the 90's Latin Hip-Hop classics while we were painting. Peace and Love.

He is a man of many talents from tattoos, custom cars, graffiti, painting, etc. He has been very successful throughout his career and has spread his art all over the world. We invited him to come paint one of our walls and he gladly agreed. It was amazing watching a true master at work. Mr. Cartoon was a very smart and respectful guy and we were honored to have met him. Cheech Marin

For those of you that don't know, Cheech Marin of Cheech and Chong is a huge art collector. Cheech has the largest private collection of Chicano Art in America. One of his goals is to bring the Chicano Art movement and his collection to the masses and so far it has worked. This past week, he took time out his busy touring schedule to come meet with members of the Sour Grapes in search of new work for his collection. Cheech was a very intelligent and funny man and treated us with much respect. It was an honor to visit with him at HCG Gallery and he was very pleased with our work. Look out for his touring art exhibitions in the future, as they will feature works by the Sour Grapes.
