Friday June 25, 2010 the Sour Grapes along with WeAre1976 will be presenting SUMMERSKOOL, a new art show for the summer. The Grapes will be presenting some new art along with some surprises for those in attendance. We Are 1976 is a cool shop with a lot hard to find stuff, so come buy something. They will be providing guest with food and drinks. The music for the night will be brought to you by the one and only DJ SOBER. After the show is the after party at Zubar with DJ SOBER, DJ TYRONE SMILEY, DJ GENOVA, and DJ SCHWA. The after party will be special because we will have DJ ELEVEN(from The Rub) all the way from Brooklyn,NYC. This is going to be a good night, so don't miss out.

Sour Grapes member Alejandro Diaz was the recipient of a cash prize awarded by the Kobes Arts Foundation at the Dallas Contemporary's WISH! auction. Alejandro is currently creating art for his first solo show at HCG Gallery, tentatively scheduled for February 2011. Yesterday we had the honor of meeting Mr. Cartoon. He is a well known artist and a hero to us. He is a man of many talents from tattoos, custom cars, graffiti, painting, etc. He has been very successful throughout his career and has spread his art all over the world. We invited him to come paint one of our walls and he gladly agreed. It was amazing watching a true master at work. Mr. Cartoon was a very smart and respectful guy and we were honored to have met him. Cheech Marin

For those of you that don't know, Cheech Marin of Cheech and Chong is a huge art collector. Cheech has the largest private collection of Chicano Art in America. One of his goals is to bring the Chicano Art movement and his collection to the masses and so far it has worked. This past week, he took time out his busy touring schedule to come meet with members of the Sour Grapes in search of new work for his collection. Cheech was a very intelligent and funny man and treated us with much respect. It was an honor to visit with him at HCG Gallery and he was very pleased with our work. Look out for his touring art exhibitions in the future, as they will feature works by the Sour Grapes.

Banksy x GATW X Sour Grapes

Our good friends over at GORDON AND THE WHALE will be brining Banksy's new film "Exit Through The Gift Shop" to Dallas. The film will premiere on Monday May 3, 2010 at 7pm at the Angelika Theater in Dallas (Mockingbird Station). The screening will be free with a printed pass located here - http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=118506378168580&ref=mf . Just print the page and bring it to the screening. It is first come first serve, so get there early. This film has been getting great reviews and the premiers have been very successful. After the screening, The Sour Grapes will have a Q & A session about graffiti art and its role in society. This is going to be a magical night, so come out for this historical event.
